Seminars and Journal Clubs

Collaborations among investigators is enhanced by attendance at our CoE seminar series, journal clubs, faculty meetings (where new and planned projects are announced), and participation in our internal grant-review program.

We have three types of hourly seminars held every Wednesday during the academic year, September through May.

Research in Progress

Research in Progress seminars were developed to: 1) facilitate research presentations so that center scientists can receive feedback about their work in progress prior to formal presentation; 2) seek collaborative opportunities; and 3) inform colleagues about research topics. All post-doctoral fellows and faculty members should attend these conferences. All faculty members are required to present at this conference at least once per year and must present their study aims prior to a grant submission. The format is for two speakers to present their research topic for 15-20 minutes followed by a 10-15 minute open discussion period.

Foundations in Health Services Research

The Foundations in Health Services Research seminars provide a broad overview of the topics that serve as a basis for health services research. All staff and interested in colleagues from outside our CoE are welcome and encouraged to attend these seminars.

Professional Development

The Professional Development seminars are designed especially for junior faculty and fellows. Topics may include time management information, manuscript writing and grants management tips. All staff and interested individuals outside of our CoE are welcome and encouraged to attend these seminars.

Journal Clubs

In addition, we have two journal clubs which hold monthly meetings. These clubs are hosted by the Clinical Epidemiology and Outcomes Program and the Design and Analysis Program.
