Fellowship Programs - M.D. and Ph.D.
The scope of the CoE's training activity has increased significantly over the last few years. In addition to postdoctoral training (both M.D. and Ph.D.), the training mission of the CoE also includes predoctoral research internships, emphasis on training of and collaboration with minority students and faculty, institutional training grants, and the Center's formal Mentoring Policy. The CoE has two Associated Health Office of Academic Affiliations-funded (OAA) fellowship slots in health services research for postdoctoral graduates and two postresidency OAA-funded fellowships in health services research for physicians.
The CoE participates in the training of fellows supported by a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) training grant held by Dr. David Hyman, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). The CoE also helps train Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC) Psychiatry and Psychology Fellows, when they are engaged in health services research. The fellows are housed at the CoE, and the CoE infrastructure provides mentoring. In addition, the CoE participates in the training of fellows supported by an AHRQ T32 Training Grant in Health IT for Patient Safety and Quality held by Todd Johnson, Ph.D. at the University of Texas School of Health Information Services and NIH T32 grant held by Michele Mariscalco, M.D., Department of Pediatrics, BCM.
